Mama's Soul Food Truck Started April 2020 and we have been serving greatness for 3 years now. The DMV area and several parts of Virginia is who we have been serving these past 3 years, and it has been a joy to cook and serve for our community. We have gone as far out as Reston Virginia areas including Richmond, and other jurisdictions and surrounding areas, and our hometown Washington DC and to include our living hometown, Orange County Virginia. We enjoy what we do, as we please our customers, and our motto is " to make sure everyone is happy while serving the best quality of food with delicious taste."

introduction by Madam (creator)

The history of Mamas Soul Food Truck LLC, was built in memory of my mother, Lorraine Tyler, whom I lost on 5-16-2019, and resided in Washington DC. My mother was a soul food cooker that enjoyed cooking for her family, friends, neighbors and anyone that she could and anyone that needed a lending hand she was there. Cooking was my mothers passion. When I lost my mother, I was lost and didn't really know what to do with myself, I fell on depression. I was my parents oldest child. I thought to myself one day, what could I do to pick myself up and come out of this depression of sadness? So I opened up a food truck. I went to Charlotte North Carolina one day to visit, and as I was sitting there, I was talking to my grandson in April of 2020, I told my grandson that I had brought a food truck and he said "ma that is good" he suggested the name to me. He said "ma why don't you call it something like ma's soul food?" So the name Mama's Soul Food Truck was created from my grandson Noah, back then, I put everything together and kept moving forward with the help of my oldest son Moe. Moe drove me to Pennsylvania where I picked the food truck up and Moe built it for me with his bare hands. my husband and my other 2 sons would help whenever they were available and not at work. My son put in the electric, the water and the drywall. My son built everything with his bare hands. He went to my dad Charles Yeargin in Washington DC to help Moe complete the rest of the electric. My father was an electrician for over 60+ years and owned his own business until he passed away. So I had just recently lost my dad as well as of June 10th 2021. So my dad put the electric work in my food truck just before he passed away. I truly honor my business because the work was totally done by the hands of my family, and the name was created by my grandson. So I take all of this to say I give back to the community, and I often have people who come up to me and ask me for meals and say that they are hungry. I give them meals without receiving any money back, because it is my gift, for all the gifts that have been given to me and blessings from God, that I could bless someone with at least a meal with no charge. What I've learned from losing my parents is to always stay humble which is what I do. I stay humble for them. My mother was related to retired baseball player Al Bumbry who played for the Baltimore Orioles. both of Dahlgren Virginia born and raised. Al just lost his mother Helen Newman Tyler December 2022 at age 104 years old. Al and my mother are first cousins. I am the cousin of Al Bumbry.
